The novel coronavirus has spread havoc around the world and most sporting events have either been cancelled or postponed. However, as far as the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is concerned, the International Cricket Council has cleared all rumors by issuing a statement that the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Schedule will remain unchanged.
The ICC World T20 2020 is scheduled later this year and will start from October 18 in Australia. The tournament will be played till 15th of November across 7 different venues.
“In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organizing Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities, and will continue to do so,” a statement from the ICC said.
“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from October 18 – November 15 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled,” the statement further added.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has created havoc across the world and all sports activities have since been called off or postponed.
The BCCI and the CSA agreed on rescheduling the bilateral 3-match ODI series amid COVID-19 outbreak. The BCCI also suspended the IPL until April 15 while the Cricket South Africa decided on Monday to suspend all cricketing activities in the countries for next couple of months in the bid to minimize this deadly virus’ impact.
After cancellation of all bilateral series and all other cricket tournaments across the world, only the Pakistan Super League continued behind closed doors and was eventually postponed on the day of the semifinals.
