HBL PSL 2020 Retained Players Complete List Released Ahead Of PSL 5 Draft

The PSL franchises have retained almost all the major T20I cricketers from the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming edition of HBL PSL 2020. The released players will be available in the players’ pool for the upcoming PSL 5 draft that is going to happen on December 6, 2019.

On top of the retained players list for HBL PSL 2020 is our very own Babar Azam who is currently the captain of Pakistan T20I side and also ranked No. 1 in world T20I batsmen rankings. He plays in PSL 2020 for Karachi Kings and will stay with them while his mates Mohammad Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed and Imad Wasim will also be the part of Karachi Kings squad as the management has decided to retain them.

The Quetta Gladiators, who currently have the HBL PSL title as well, have decided to go with former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and the emerging young gun from the last season Mohammad Hasnain. They have also decided to keep Shane Watson onboard as he was the player of HBL PSL 2019. Other than that, they have Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Nawaz on their retained players list.

The champions of HBL PSL 2016 and 2018, Islamabad United, have chosen to stay with leg-spinner Shadab Khan, middle-order batsman Asif Ali, and the young quick Musa Khan. They will also keep the flamboyant Luke Ronchi on their roster.

We’ll again see Mohammad Hafeez, Shaheen Afridi, and Fakhar Zaman in the Lahore Qalandars’ squad as they will be accompanied by David Wiese, Sohail Akhtar, Haris Rauf, and Salman Butt.

Boom Boom Afridi will again feature in the HBL PSL 2020 from Multan Sultans and they have also chosen to stay with Mohammad Irfan who was recently called up for the Pakistan T20I side for the Australia tour after a long break. The other retentions for Sultans include James Vince, Junaid Khan, and Shan Masood.

The 2017 PSL winners, Peshawar Zalmi, have retained Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Umar Amin and Kamran Akmal. They will also stay with their captain Darren Sammy and the other Windies power-hitter in their squad Kieron Pollard.

A few prominent names that have been released by the PSL franchises into the draft pool include:

Ian Bell, Alex Hales, Mohammad Sami, and Sahibzada Farhan from Islamabad United; Mohammad Rizwan, Colin Ingram, and Ravi Bopara from Karachi Kings; Carlos Brathwaite, Brendan Taylor, Haris Sohail, Yasir Shah and Sandeep Lamichhane, from Lahore Qalandars; Hammad Azam, Dan Christian, Joe Denly, Shoaib Malik and Nicholas Pooran from Multan Sultans; Chris Jordan, Andre Fletcher, Dawid Malan, Tymal Mills, and Lendl Simmons from Peshawar Zalmi; and Dwayne Bravo, Anwar Ali, Dwayne Smith, Sohail Tanvir, and Rilee Rossouw from Quetta Gladiators.
