The ICC has finally taken a call on the postponement of the T20 World Cup 2020. It’s now confirmed by the ICC that the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 that was scheduled in Australia has been postponed amid ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
At the IBC Board (ICC’s commercial subsidiary) meeting on Monday, the members also agreed on the possible windows for the next 3 men’s events so that there could be more clarity to the international calendar. This will help the sport get the best opportunity possible during the next three years for recovering from the disruption that happened in 2020 due to COVID-19.
Here are the windows for next three ICC Men’s events:
ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to be held in October-November 2021. The final of the event will be played on 14th November 2021.
ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in October-November 2022. The final of the event will be played on 13th November 2022.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 to be held in October-November 2023 in India. The final of the event will be played on 26th November 2023.
The board also agreed on continuously monitoring the ever-changing situation and further assessing all the available information for making an informed decision on the future hosts for ensuring that the events are safely and successfully staged in the coming years.
The board will also keep on evaluating the situation with regards to the possibility of staging the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 that is scheduled in New Zealand next year in February. Meanwhile, the event’s planning will continue as per current schedule.
