Pakistan Pacer Usman Shinwari Transfers To Lahore Qalandars After Successful Relegation

Pakistan left-arm pacer Usman Khan Shinwari has been successfully transferred to Lahore Qalandars from Karachi Kings for the upcoming Pakistan Super League.

Usman Shinwari was one of the five players who agreed to drop down one category through the process of relegation request.

Other players who have agreed to do the same include Imam-ul-Haq, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi and has dropped to gold from diamond category, Junaid Khan, who represents Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League and has dropped to gold from diamond category, Salman But, who was previously part of the Lahore Qalandars and has dropped to silver from gold category, Shan Masood, who previously played for Multan Sultans and has dropped to silver from gold category, and Umar Amin, who was part of the Peshawar Zalmi squad in the last edition and has also dropped to silver from gold category.

“As per the event regulations, when a team sends in a relegation request for their local players to drop down one category, it is shared with the other teams based on the player’s consent. The other five teams can then either match the player’s original category or allow him to relegate on his existing team’s roster,” the press release from PSL management read.

“Based on teams’ expression of interests, the player’s existing team is then given time to either retain the player in his original category or release him to the team willing to match the player’s registered category.”

The PSL 2020 trade and retention window will be closed on December 1, and the teams are making their final decisions now on which players they will be retaining from the pool currently on their roster and which of them will be released to the draft pool. Soon, more similar news will follow ahead of the PSL 5 draft on December 6.
